Mb, mb not. It's more than just a Badlands plugin though, as it was developed in collaboration with, and sanctioned by Bungie. Remember Bungie went to the trouble of re-creating the fir'Bolg collection as a true Myth II unit for this plugin - its not just a TFL port.
When Forrest said it didn't have a direct impact on the story, that was because it didn't change or flesh out anything in the existing story other than to tell us a bit more about Jmen/Herons, and to indicate there were other battles/campaigns against Soulblighter than those we directly saw in Myth II. And to indicate that fir'Bolg fought in the war. He's not dismissing it to the level of a 3rd-party plugin (are you Fobo?)
You may be right about Chimera being set in the Untamed Lands. Just as equally, it may not have taken place there at all. There's no real way of knowing.
