: Wow.. I can't even begin to describe how impressive that
: statement is.. Please, take this 'something' out of
: your sleeve!
I've got an entire detailed past and future history for humanity and three other alien races all laid out (and I don't consider Bungie's treatment of the S'pht's history or Human future-history even close to "detailed" in comparison; the history of Myth is about as detailed as my future Earth history).
Then there's the interactions between those four races and another three loosely sketched races (yes, that's seven total), just in our galaxy. I've got a loose conceptual draft for the rest of our Local Group, and a general pattern for the rest of the universe, but nothing very concrete there.
Most of this probably won't even make it into the games (yes, plural), though; and knowing that, I can guess that Bungie may have a much larger story behind the Marathon/PiD/Halo universe that's just never been shown. I hope to someday create an RPG book to flesh it all out (MYSELF, not some random RPG author; though it'd prolly be co-authored by an avid RPG player I know, the co-founder of my company, who is intimately familiar with the story).
I started off this insanely huge project with two conceptual drafts for games set in distinctly separate universes, and found a common element between them - like where all my Myth theories come from, connections - tying them together. Then as one evolved, so did the other. This was back in 96-97, and basically every idea I've had since then has been tied into this universe. Just like with Myth and Marathon, I develop theories and connections about what if this was like that, etc... except since it's my own creation, I can write them into reality. :-)
It's even got its own Story Page, though since I've released hardly anything yet there's hardly anything there. (Yes, Dynasty is a part of this universe. A very tiny part, but with a few connections to the greater macroverse plot. In fact, the only released info is related to that connection...).
(And BTW, you will notice that HTML is now working on the forum, as are images...)
