: A film? A film about myth? Well personally i dont think
: it is such a good idea because first of all if you
: want to make this movie as genuine and identical to
: the original myth story and plot, the story that has
: captivated me for nearly a year now you're gonna run
: into some problems...
: 1.Hollywood producers are a bunch of arrogant bums that
: like to "change" certain things about a
: script depending on the cost, appeal to the public, etc
: so if i do see a film where alric is named
: "gandalf" and dwarves throw spears im gonna
: be a bit upset as many other myth story fans will
: be...
I said (In a round about way) that I would produce this myself. I figured from the tone of my other post that it would be quite obvious that I am very strict on story. That's why I haven't had the heart to sell any of my other scripts, because producers always want to push things into a 'mold.' I would prefer to tell these stories myself.
: 2.The cost would be utterly bonecrushing if you combine
: the length,characters,FX,plot development,amongst
: other things.
Cost is something I constantly pore over. Like right now, I am trying to produce\direct my first project. Some people have told me I'm fooling myself trying to do a sci-fi for a first project, but I decided that if I'm going to get started, I'm not going to do any stupid little romantic comedy, or drama, like so many other directors who you've never heard of do. I could easily do this first project for millions of dollars, but I've figured out how to do it for less than $500,000. If you do things the Hollywood way, this would cost $80 million. They are way too excessive. Like the time I went to Universal Studios: I saw the small model of the DeLorean used in "Back to the Future" that they used in flying sequences and such. It was only about a foot long, but it had working lights, opening doors, and even a flashing flux capacitor. They said that it cost $100,000 to build. When I came home, a friend and I designed and priced the same car and figured out how to do one for less than $300, and still have it look as good.
As far as length, I half considered doing this in miniseries style, but I think I'd like it on the big screen. I would keep the narrator and use him to describe certain events, just like in game. Some of the minor battles would have to be described this way, sorry. I would like to film a giant Rhi'anon scene near the end with the legion.
: 3.BLOOD,GORE,GUTS!These are the things we like to see in
: a good war/strtegy computer game but there just might
: be too much of it in a movie like myth.Which would
: lead to R rating which would lead to low box office
: gross which would lead to
: too little a money.
Who the hell cares about money? I do this because there are great stories to be told and I love filmmaking. Money is a fringe benefit.

Look, I understand your concerns. This story does not belong to me, though. I belong to a community who is involved in this whole story. Before I did anything, I would obviously run the script by most of you here. I am not as much of an expert as some of the asylumers, and I would need to check my facts, as well as approvability testing. Besides, with Myth III coming out, I think it would be quite a long time before I could even afford the rights. I can't even afford to do my first project, yet(Which reminds me, if any of you know anyone who wants to invest in an independent film, let me know).
