Perhaps, but the narrator seems to imply that Twelve Motion never even talked to Alric about the final battle before. Why did Alric and Twelve Motion apparently forget about The Deceiver for sixty years, and then manage to reconstruct all the events of his downfall just a few days? (Presumably Alric has some sort of magical scrying abilities that helped him locate both The Deceiver and his scepter, but it's a little weird that he never found the time to use them before.) I get the feeling that perhaps Myrdred was a bit more conscious and powerful during his imprisonment than they thought. But then, that's an old theory.
