Bungie has never said anywhere about anything "this is canon". They have said "this contains information on Myth", and have put their names on things. They said no more in support of Tales than they did for GURPS; the only reason we trust Tales more is that they alone authored it, not them and someone else.
This changes nothing.
And there are no "winners". This isn't a competition.
