: Hey all, I just had a few questions that I've always
: wondered:
: 1) I Avernus supposed to be some cold tundra
: like place or is it a desert? GURPS says it gets
: colder, but I think they might mean the more north you
: go. In game, however when we fight in Rhi'anon, it
: looks pretty desert like to me and its pretty far
: north...
Probably both. It's most likely a cold, frozen desert like the Mongolian. There doesn't seem to be anything to indicate temperature, other than Trow can be frozen by the cold somewhere in the area and live (obviously; they're just stone and clay).
: 2) Are those suppose to be rivers of blood or rust in
: some of those levels in TFL? I think GRUPS said that
: Balor made it that way, but I've also heard (forgot
: where) that it is rust from all the old Trow
: structures made of iron.
The title itself is "River of Blood", but this could just as equally be an anology to it's blood-redness, which is talked about in the game. In this case, if I had to chose, I'd definitely steer away from GURPS where it seems to contradict ingame evidence.
: 3) Forget about GURPS, Pre-release info, Chimera (or
: whatever it is), any plugins and such, and let me ask
: you all what YOU think happend to the last 2 fallen
: lords.
You mean about not using them? They weren't necessary and they weren't encountered by the Legion. Names would have been nice, though.
: In my own opinion, I think Bungie simply didn't put them
: in, but maybe expected to and did a pretty crappy job
: of covering that fact.
Ya.
: 4) Was Soulblighter really binded by Balor? Did all that
: about Balor dying and destroying all the other fallen
: lords, apply to Soulblighter?
According to Alric, he was, like all the Fallen Lords. Perhaps Alric simply didn't have enough information and only knew part of the story (partially learned from his interogation in The Barrier, and/or it was all made up and a lie). Soulblighter was at least partially free from Balor.
: Im starting to think that its no. It seems to me that
: Soulblighter learned all he learned in that dark
: temple in the Untamed Lands and simply decided to
: follow his old pal Connacht, who became Balor.
: Soulblighter obviously didn't lose his powers when
: Balor was destroyed and I think that he was simply
: trying to save his friend.
Well, not exactly. I definitely think that Balor's death, or the dropping of his head into the Devoid (more likely), caused the armies of the Dark to fall. The power of all the Fallen and Balor was originally combined by the binding, supposedly, and any separation would certainly cause a great disturbance in the–dare I say it–Force—the Dark Force of Balor's binding. A lot of confusion and terrible disorder would have probably occurred, much like with money and legal property thingies chaning hands really fast…use your imaginations.
