This is one of the funniest threads I've read in a while. I like the idea of lightening up this debate, as there are some people -- though I'm not naming them -- *coughcoughForrestcoughcough* who take it way to seriously, in my opinion. Of course, Forrest also said bad things were happening in his life at the moment, so I'll leave the lovable guy alone.
One reason you might also not consider GURPS canon is because comparatively few people own GURPS. Since the role playing guide isn't exactly history (it's original creative content), it seems to me that you could argue it isn't canon until Bungie proclaims it so (which it has not) or until some certain critical mass of Myth GURPS owners exists.
And with specific regard to sanctioned content, I don't think we know for sure whether Bungie read Myth GURPS carefully before signing off on it. We just know some artists contributed illustrations and that they approved the association of their game's name with it. If they'd read it carefully, it seems to me the several contradictions would not exist.
