Well, theories generally aren't accepted or rejected through a democratic process. Or rather, they shouldn't be, but they are anyway. :-)
Anyway, using GURPS sparingly is exactly what I'm advocating too. I think we differ mainly on the semantic definition of "canon." You exclude from that class anything which can be disbelieved at all...I include in it anything which can be believed at all. Practically, I think we're talking about the same thing here. We still disagree violently elsewhere, however, and I'll gut you like a fish if I meet you in a dark alley and I happen to be carrying a claymore. :-)
