: Take heart, Forrest. No matter what happens to the
: supposedly 'cannon' story, we all have each other.
: Let me explain.
: 4 years ago, I watched my younger brother play a game on
: his computer that intrigued me. The gameplay was
: amazing, I thought. So, I asked him if I could borrow
: it. I spent that entire night, from dusk 'til dawn
: playing "Myth: The Fallen Lords." At first,
: I played on 'Normal'. But, after reading the manual
: and playing through two levels, I quickly changed to
: 'Timid.' It wasn't that I thought it was too hard; it
: was that I HAD to see how the story played out. I
: could feel the struggle, the eternal struggle, between
: good and evil. This story had it all: From the good
: and evil aspect, to diverse characters, to artifacts
: and legend. It was exactly as the title described:
: Myth.
: "Myth II: Soulblighter" dissapointed me a
: little on story, but it added to the timeline and
: answered a few of my questions. "Chimera,"
: of course didn't really give me anything, but it
: continued part of the myth in a different direction.
: Then came GURPS. Although not completely accurate, it
: did fill in a lot of gaps, and enrich the story a
: little more by putting even more faces into the story.
: The comic added more as well.
: You see, I'm a wannabe filmmaker. My only problem is that
: I don't have the capital to make a film, yet. Once, I
: tried to sell one of my scripts, but the producer
: wouldn't sign a contract to not alter the story.
: Typical Hollywood, eh? So, I told him and the other
: potentials to forget it, I'll do it myself.
: I, like the others here, are addicted to story; not just
: a little flash and action. I come to this site to read
: the debates and to see this story flesh out. I have
: read every article here. I have printed out the
: dictionary and gone through it immensely. I have a
: small shelf which holds both manuals, both strategy
: guides, GURPS, the comic, the Myth 2 Handbook, all
: three boxes, and all in between two soulblighter
: figurines. This story is so enveloping, that I can't
: help but be drawn in.
: When I first heard that there was going to be a MYTH III
: and that it was not going to be done by Bungie, I
: almost had a heart attack. As a writer who is
: extremely overprotective of his creations, I could not
: beleive that Bungie, who had created such a rich
: story, would hand it over to a company that had a mere
: 19%. If that were me, I would have come up with
: another way. I almost considered just boycotting the
: storyline in Myth III altogether, without even knowing
: what it was about yet. I guess you could say that I
: was afraid what 'outsiders' would do to it.
: But I calmed down and devised a strategy. I started to
: write a script. Now, yes, I understand that I don't
: own the rights, and that a film of this measure would
: be at extreme expense, and that even acquiring the
: rights would be outragous, but I'm still writing. When
: I achieve the capital to make my first film, I hope
: that I will be able to make one good enough to budget
: the next, and so on. Hopefully, in time, I will be
: able to strike a deal. And we can see Myth the way we
: remember it. And maybe I can watch it and feel the
: same way that I felt that night four years ago when I
: spent all night losing myself in the story.
: But, for now, I have dedicated one entire wall of my
: office to this project. It's covered with pictures, a
: huge timeline, outlines, and copies of certain pages
: from the books, GURPS, the comic, and from this
: website, including forum posts. And in time, I hope to
: be able to enlist the help of the Asylumers who relish
: in this story just as much as I do.
: You see, all of us here are here because we care about
: this story. Sure, there are going to be
: contradictions, debates, truths, and lies. Mumbo Jumbo
: may take the story where it should never have been.
: They might also make a great addition to the story.
: Whatever happens, though, there are deep down core
: elements that will always be there. There will always
: be those who come here to debate, or just to read what
: others have written. There will always be those who
: play the games time and time again and get lost in the
: story. There will always be those who make plugins, or
: write fan fiction, to accentuate the story. And I will
: always have the wall of my office.
: This all may sound somewhat sappy, but I beleive that a
: good story stays inside of you, and you make it your
: own, and beleive whatever version you want to beleive;
: no matter how technical you get about it. And I
: beleive that those in here are of the upmost authority
: on this story. We have made it our own.
: Now I gotta go, I'm getting misty-eyed.

A film? A film about myth? Well personally i dont think it is such a good idea because first of all if you want to make this movie as genuine and identical to the original myth story and plot, the story that has captivated me for nearly a year now you're gonna run into some problems...
1.Hollywood producers are a bunch of arrogant bums that like to "change" certain things about a script depending on the cost, appeal to the public, etc so if i do see a film where alric is named "gandalf" and dwarves throw spears im gonna be a bit upset as many other myth story fans will be...
2.The cost would be utterly bonecrushing if you combine the length, characters,FX,plot development, amongst other things.
3.BLOOD,GORE,GUTS!These are the things we like to see in a good war/strtegy computer game but there just might be too much of it in a movie like myth.Which would lead to R rating which would lead to low box office gross which would lead to
too little a money.
