: I interpreted this differently. Since the narrator wasn't
: actually there, I think what we see is the truth and
: it had become 100 Berserks in the retelling by the
: time it got to him. We know of other cases where stuff
: we hear isn't exactly true such as wounds from Souless
: javelins being unhealable, and I think this is one of
: those times.
The way I interpreted it, considering that there are those other groups of 4 and 6 Berserkers that join up with you, it seemed likely that the 100 Berserkers were fighting over quite a wide area, and that you merely control the vital few who take on the Watcher while the others hold up the rest of his troops. I think a similar idea is used in "Forest Heart", where, while Murgen and Cu Roi's entire army is there, you command the small group that are in a strategic position that allows them to attack Soulblighter's four Trow generals, shattering his command structure (notice how there are so many Myrmidons on that level? That's probably because Soulblighter would want to use his best troops as guards for his generals.)
