Can we group the Forest giants with the "civilised" races? They don't build cities, write books,and make weapons. They can be likened to the birds and the trees, part of the one dream. The fact that they refer to the Earth (note capital) as proof to their faith to the wyrd convinces me they had something to the creation of the world or at least it's maintenance.
The Trow were the first to build cities and wage war. This could be how Nyx scarred the manifestation of the one dream.
Then the Dark gods try fighting fire with fire, and create mimic races to take control of the world, they fail. The dust settles and wyrd creates a whole wack of younger races in a bid to get the world back under control.
