GURPS says so explicitly in the Fetch section. The games don't, but given the "its true nature was masked by the louse-infested skin it wore" TFL flavor and the total absence of uncovered Fetch bits from any in-game scene or pre/postgame pic, I think it's strongly implied that their true shape was never seen by common man. (Balor and the Smiths of Muirthemne may have had other methods, of course.)

I was referring to non-mortal wounds. When an arrow penetrates the outer skin, you hear a standard flesh hit *plus* a little electrical crackle sound which presumably indicates a disturbance/wound in the Fetch's flesh beneath.
BTW, I think you mean Wyrd takes their whole body. If he just took their soul, they'd be definitely non-material, since they leave nothing behind but the inflated skin.
