You are rediculous. Your entire post is a flame against me when we already went over this further down. It was a misunderstanding and bad call on my part to try and lighten the mood to ensure my utter lack of hostility, which obviously backfired.
: People like Archer who come into forums and generally try
: and undermine all of the good work which Forrest has
: been doing for the Myth community.
Never! I learned from all that stuff! You kidding? What do you know, might I ask, of the situation?
: Trying to create
: new sites with the same content,
Of course; it's a condensation of all the information GURPS, as well as Forrest's Encyclopedia, presented. I didn't make it up. It's only unique because it's a summary, which most regular Mythers want, not a long, however interesting and well-done, Encyclopedia (though I was under the impression that the Encyclopedia was made before Forrest took control of bungie.org; someone fill me in).
: badmouthing the
: finest collection of theories (Delusions) on the
: internet
What? What is this about? Badmouthing?? I love them! I used Forrest's greatest Cycle, the Forrestine Cycle, with the one on Delusions, in conjunction with his Über-Theory to create my own. I have all respect for it.
: and then coming into the forum and
: bad-mouthing Forrest and his opinions.
I never badmouthed Forrest. Please point out what your talking about clearly.
: If you don't
: like his views on what is cannon and what is not,
: fine, comment, but don't post sarcasm laden crap with
: no real points,
Yes, my mistake here. It was innocent and non-confronational.
: other than to say that you think third
: party plugs are of more relevance than pre-release
: info.
which I have conceeded to. Sili was right about that, and I agree.
: Pre-release stuff isn't thought up on a whim,
: and was probably dropped due to gameplay issues rather
: than a lack of use.
story as well, including the names, the Cycle 500-›1000, etcetera.
: Bungie probably envisioned using
: Cave Spores, Skrael, Mahir and (shudder) the
: Dirigible
: at some point.
And they didn't. It shows original intent, highly, but it isn't a part of the story we're meant to see, like a pre-script to a movie.
: The list of names given for such units
: were thought out just as much as the flavour for Zerks
: or the Journal for The Road North. There is no way
: that plug-ins like Homeland and UMS are more valid
: that stuff thought up by Bungie.
Yeah, but pre-release is just as useless, keep in mind. It is, however, good for theorizing on original intent and using clues to elaborate theories and ideas.
: GURPS is 100% canon,
: as is anything thought up by Bungie.
GURPS Myth is a Role Playing Game system book which was probably less scrutenized than the other GURPS books. Comprimises and definite alterations to the story were made, or were carelessly overlooked, or such was done purposely by Bungie in a drunken stooper to only piss us off at this very moment.
: If Bungie threw a
: plot involving a wolverine archmage and his pixie
: minions, it would be canon, whether you liked it or
: not.
Of course, but if Gene Seabolt threw in a plot involving a wolverine archmage and his pixie minions, it would not be canon, the same if anyone else made something up.
: I may sound all pro-Forrest here, but he has offered so
: much more to the community than you Archer.
Yes, but I've done my share as well, and I have had Forrest as my mentor for months. I know him rather well, I think; probably more than you (you are a newcomer Asylumite, right?)
: Give him a
: break, when you become the administrator of a
: successful Myth site who knows half as much as
: Forrest, I'll accept your opinions as bible.
The thing is, I do know about as much as Forrest on the story because he taught it to me, and I got GURPS, read the Encyclopedia, etcetera.
: Until
: then, post as much as you want, it's a free world, but
: leave out flames and personal attacks on Forrest.
: LR
Then you leave your flame and personal attack away from me.
Forrest hasn't further commented on the issue. I agree with him. He agrees with me. Why ARE you defending him from me when we're not against each other?
Forrest has been a great friend. It's been nice knowing him and learning from him. I hope we can work together to figure out this inconsistancy and mend it, in some way. The problems that Forrest outlined are why I wanted to create some site similar to the timeline to begin with. I realize now it's a daunting task, and had before, so I took to simply build a timeline instead, which was as successful as I wanted it to be.
Also, my first link on my site is to Myth.Bungie.Org. I know where I got my stuff, and I know where credit is surely due. I still offer to incorporate my site in b.org itself, somehow.
