If Forrest's theory is right (and I think it is), she would have been both Shiver and Ravanna in that form. She was incarnation of the spirit that both of them had. So she might have just been familiar with him because they were Fallen Lords together. Additionally, he might be old enough that he fought her as Ravanna way back before Shiver was born. He wasn't necessarily ever her ally while she was Ravanna.
