: According to GURPS, the Heron Guards who survived to
: become Jmen were from a veteran unit, so they're more
: skilled than the average Guard. However, as you say,
: they probably became a little rusty after 100 years of
: inaction. The Myth II Guards aren't any better in
: battle than the average Zerk, and that doesn't really
: make sense, given that they're already some of the
: land's greatest fighters when they're first recruited
: into the guard. After millennia of practice they ought
: to be near hero status, no? GURPS supports this--it
: says that rookie Guards generally have the stats of
: the Myth II Herons while veterans of a few centuries
: or more may be much more effective.
: So I'd say that back in the Wolf Age, the average newbie
: Guard was of the 3-pointer type we see in-game, while
: the older Guards went all the way up to Heron Guard
: Hero level or higher. In Myth II, we saw veteran
: Guards who were out of practice and were fighting like
: rookies; given a year or so to hone their skills, most
: of them should be up to near-hero status.

You're right Sili, I also think so.
I think if Heron Guards were the best warriors of the myth world, because in Heron Guard Flavor Text, Myth II says:("Once every seven years warriors of renown from every corner of the empire gather to compete for the honor of joining the Heron Guard. From that multitude less than six will be chosen...").
So from all those heroes only six(and those six were the best from all these heroes, I think!) were chosen to be herons every seven years. So, can you image how good must be those Heron Guards?
They must be better than Avatars!!!(it was a joke!)
