Well, if you want a minor twig to add to the bonfire of your rage: Some of the Myth III dwarves have the winged hammer tattoo. The Hanged Man asked some of the developers about it--apparently they were unaware of the probable paratrooper connection, and just put it down as a general Dwarven symbol.
