Personally, I thought they were looking for him in order to protect him, but they hadn't found him yet. (If they do know where he is, then they aren't doing a very good job of protecting him.)

Not so. Avatara and Fallen Lords are on the same power level without the Leveler backing the Fallen Lords. The battles between Alric and Soulblighter are ample proof of this. It may be true, though, that the Deceiver couldn't have gone into hibernation in the first place had he not been drawing power from Balor at the time.

Also, Cu Roi and Murgen weren't alone; they had an entire cohort of the Legion with them. Of course, Legionaries aren't long-lived enough to protect them for ninety years, but by then they would be considerably more skilled and would probably have escaped.

Anyway, I agree with you that they died, so my arguments are pointless. But I'm pretty sure they died right when the Tain shattered, not in the next 2 seconds Earth time/1000 years Tain time. Or whatever the conversion factor is.
