In the original Myth, "The Legion" was about 20, 000 men to begin with, and as you might know, finished as a decimated force of under 30.

"The Legion" seems to be the heroic/savioric army of the west in each game. In the original Myth, "The Legion" made history for being the army responsible for winning the war against Balor. We can assume this because "The Legion" is definted in the Myth II manual.

Notice that in Myth II, Alric and the armies are always on the run, not daring to confront Soulblighter in open combat until the end. This suggestes that the Myth II Legion was much smaller -- parhaps 5000 - 10 000 strong.

Judging by the number of blocks that represented army size in the original Myth's journal, undead armies always outnumbered the living. Shiver's army at Madrigal could have been roughly 40, 000 strong. The Deciever's army, before corssing the Cloudspine, could have been 60 000 or even 80 000 strong. Since Soulblighter spent 60 years planning his comeback for Myth II, we'll assume his armies were at least this large. So 10 000 would typically lose to 40, 000, limiting the size of the Legion to that much.

I don't think Bungie really took into account the size of Roman Legions when planning out the armies in Myth.

Anyway, probably not more than 10, 000 at it's highest point. I'd say after the battle with Soulblighter, less than 500. The journalist talks of Alric commanding 3000 men down the river, and mentions that in the final battle at Tharsis, casualties were roughly half of the force, before the final strike at Soulblighter himself. So let's assume there are Alric's 3000, 2000 more at Lesotho, so 5000 facing Soulblighter in the end. 2500 after the attack on Shiver and Soulblighter's front lines, and about 500 after striking at his personal guard and anything inside Tharsis.

Sorry for the crappy grammar, heh.

: A Legion is a Roman unit of soldiers. It tends to consist
: of about 5,000 soldiers, give or take a thousand,
: depending upon the time period and how the general
: wished to organize the army at any one particular
: time. In most large and important battles, multiple
: Legions would be used together.
: In Myth, we can assume that its Legions are similar to
: Roman Legions. There is mention of a "Seventh
: Legion." This does not mean that there were at
: least seven Legions, however. The #s that Legions were
: assigned in Rome had nothing to do with time of
: original formation, but instead had to do with their
: position in the world; this system still hasn't been
: completely figured out today, I believe, but it's
: definitely very complicated.
: So, even though there was a "Seventh Legion,"
: that was sent through the world knot to Scales, and
: that there didn't HAVE to be more than one Legion
: (though it doesn't quite make sense to name the only
: Legion of the Provincial Armies "Seventh"),
: but we can assume that there was at least another
: Legion. I suspect that whatever soldiers survived to
: make it to Muirthemne after escaping from Madrigal
: were combined into just a single Legion, perhaps
: asummed at about 5- or 6,000 men. This is why, as it
: was in TFL, called "The Legion." In TFL, it
: was called "The Legion" because it was the
: Legion that the Journal-writer was in. It could have
: had any name, but "The Legion" is only how
: we knew it. The same could be true for m2 by the time
: of "The Wall," but I suspect rather that
: there aren't many soldiers more than a Legion's-worth,
: of about 6,000.

: P.S. 15 thousand is more like three Legions.
