Actually, these theories are only "complex" because they connect the complex, diverse world to a much simpler central truth. Instead of, there are Old/Dark Gods who the Ghols worship, and the Cycle all on its own, and the Callieach created a hole that might lead to another dimension, and there were Smiths of Muirthemne who build a portal to another dimension in which there are lots of spiders, and there are the Fetch from another dimension, and all sorts of miscellaneous little threads between them all...
I just took all of those threads and wound them into one rope. But a smooth silk rope, viewed on the thread level, is still very complex. Be glad I didn't get subatomic on your ass :-)
