Yeah, but Myrdred was originally an Avatara and somehow he managed to seek out Balor and hook up with him long before anyone else in the West knew about him. Initially, at least, he was undoubtedly interested in Balor for a number of reaons--not the least of which was that Balor probably represented the winning side. :-) Afterwards, of course, he had Balor's magical compulsion on top of everything else. But we know that doesn't work perfectly--just like the Black Company's Taken, Myth's Fallen spend at least as much time pursuing their own private agendas as obeying Balor's will.
