Well, when the journal writer says that they died (in sons of myrgard) he says that they did not escape the destruction of the tain. That means that nobody saw them after the tain was destroyed. I'm not sure if it's a police thing or military, or what, but some group says that if there is no body, you don't know that it's dead. So it is possible that they may have been thrown somewhere in the world far, far away from the rest of the tain people. But that is extremely unlikely by my calculations.
If the two of them had been stuck in the tain after its destruction, and they managed to hold off against hordes of spiders, and ate the dead spiders for nourishment, then they still wouldn't be well off. Spiders, as many of them as there are, are probably not nutritious. Spiders, as we know, eat other insects. The only living things in the tain normally are spiders. So the spiders have to eat something, and so they would probably eat each other unless they could find something else to eat. When they do find something else, they'd probably swarm it and all try to get this new yummy food.
Sorry, I lost track of myself. The spiders are not very nutritious. If Murgen and Cu Roi only ate those nasty spiders for a long time, they're missing out on a hell of a lot of essential vitamins and minerals. They'd eventually get really sick, and lose their ability to defend themselves against the hordes of spiders, resurrected myrks, thrall, and at some points probably soulblighter.
Another thing. We know that people inside the tain get hungry in taintime. We also know that 1 day taintime is equal to 1 day realtime after it was shattered. That's still 60 years that they were in the tain. Most people I know after 60 years of not having food would be pretty dead.
If they had been thrown far away from the tain after it was shattered, that means they'd have had 60 years to get back to what's left of the kingdoms of the west. They must have found their ways back by the time soulblighter shows himself again.
