I agree with Disc, Across the Gjol had that hopeless feeling about it, whilst SOTM never captured that. The swamp setting goes a long way to further the realism of the level. I've always loved the Siege of Madrigal, it has to be my favourite level of all time. The eery howls, the dimly lit streets and hordes of wights stumbling from the murky river. Reminds me of Desecration.
Salvation was a cool level, as is the Ibis Crown, but they don't have that suspenseful feeling imho. The Ibis Crown had me nervous, but like most Myth II levels, it failed to make me really care. I journal entry for the levels leading up to the Last Battle are all ominous.
BTW fellow Smiths, I've been doing some more experimentation with colourmaps. If I were to create a map with a couple of multiplayer meshes, would any of you be interested in designing and scripting the solo?
