: I just looked over the new screenshots for myth 3 and was
: specificaly interested in the northern looking
: spearman.
: we can make a pretty safe assumption that they throw
: these spears since the guy in the backround is and
: they have multiple spears.
: so who do they remind you of? i think souless when i see
: spears. now at the moment this is kinda far fetched
: but give it a chance.
: this is 1000years before the great war and the first
: appearence of souless as far as know. unless hollow
: men=souless which i think they do but here is the
: theory anyways. maybe souless are the reincarnated
: souls of these spearman. or maybe they are just the
: myrmidons artilery units. just balor didnt need them
: and converted them into regular old fighters.
: myrmidons were the beserkers northern kin.
Except that there will be soulless in Myth 3 too. Otherwise your idea is attractive, as it'd give some basis as to why soulless are like they are. They're a pretty complex form of undead, and if their spear-throwing ability is a vestigial remainder of their living attributes it'd make sense.
Imagine, a ghastly form of dark magic that rolls over your northern spearmen, tearing away the flesh and burning their souls, until nothing remains but bleached bones and blackened spears. Then, slowly, the bones begin to assemble, a gaseous smoke envelopes them in unlife, and poisoned javelins are raised against the living...
I saw some speculation on this elsewhere, but who exactly _are_ those northern-looking men? Myrmidons, like zerks, have face-paint, but these guys appear to have none & instead have what look like helmets.
Also, they have throwing spears _and_ a shield? Seems like a strange combination. If there was a sword hanging at the waist it would make sense. But otherwise, those spears are too long for melee use.
