Shiver Journal entry:Saturday April 25
Twice Born Journal entry:Saturday April 25
Forge Journal entry: Monday April 27
The fact that Shiver and Twice Born happened on the same day explains why the narrator doesn't mention it in TB's journal entry. The Forge journal entry, though, happens two days later. 4 possible explanations:
1) The Deceiver really didn't die. The lack of a mention of his death wouldn't support his being alive, though, because everyone THINKS he's dead. Therefore, for the purposes of explaining why the narrator didn't mention the Deceiver's supposed death, this explanation is wrong.
2) The narrator figured it was a rumor, not worth putting in.
3) The narrator didn't feel like putting it in. Why? Well, aside from #2(which can be shaken, not stirred with this one), there's a good possibility the world's gonna end pretty soon, and he feels that even the Deceiver's death isn't worth mentioning. Nobody really liked the Deceiver, anyways, but he wasn't a big evil anymore, either, so why bother?
4) The narrator hadn't heard about the deceiver's "supposed" death. This is quite possible; after all, we don't know how far away Shiver was from the main battle, and the heroes may have been 'detained' (i.e. forced to kick some major thrall and myrk @$$). Or they may have even been killed, though I doubt that.
