In Response To: Suspense (Lord Raven)

: Thanks for the welcome back!

Hey, good to see you around :) Don't go away again you hear!

: Some levels I found particularly suspenseful;
: 1. Battle of Madrigal (3rd level, it doesn't sound right)
: 2. Flight from Covenant
: 3. Heart of the Stone
: 4. The Road North
: 5. Across the Gjol (and the best level ever)
: 6. The Last Battle

I agree, though I found others were fraught with suspense too. And I tend to disagree on Across the Gjol - the level was on one of the multiplayer maps (most of which you never saw) and your role was purely defensive. The levels where you were venturing into unknown territory (like the Road North) tended to be much better imho.

: And in Myth II
: 1. Gonen's Bridge

Hmm yes. But I'd also add Salvation and Ibis Crown to that. I played M2 before TFL, so Salvation was the first serious level (Willow Creek was a joke eh?) I came across & it really had my heart pounding...

: See what I mean? There are probably one or two other Myth
: II levels but that is about it. Third party levels
: have created a similar feel, but without an entire
: series of levels before them, they can't hope to be as
: good. Ones that spring to mind are the CoD series
: (particularly Source of the 500 Poisons), Morte Della
: Luna and to a lesser extent, Under Myrkridian
: Standards.

Throne of the Lich King abounds with suspense. Its the first map I've played in a long time that actually made me flinch when one of the traps was sprung. I was on the train at the time & got some strange looks from fellow commuters ;)

*cheers*
