Interesting. I believe that the tain shard in the forest heart that the deceiver and his men enter through is different than the one that they exit from. If you'll notice, the time that they went in is (what was it...) a little over a day before they leave. If that tain shard travelled from Forest Heart to near Tharsis in one day, then something's wrong. I think Soulblighter had one in his possession and had some more of his undead looking for another shard in the forest heart. They found it, but the Deceiver got to it before they could transport it out of the area.

Cu Roi and Murgen are most definitely dead. Even if they survived the shattering of the Tain, they still had no chance of surviving very long. Remember what was about to kill most men when Soulblighter trapped the legion in the tain the first time? Starvation. There is no food in the tain besides scraps of meat from any dead things that they could find.

As powerful as the Nine were, I'm pretty sure they couldn't hold off starvation for too long. If Cu Roi and Murgen were in that tain for 60 years realtime (to say nothing of taintime, whatever it may be), they would have starved to death eventually, or been overpowered by the legions of spiders and lightning traps.

And about the forest giants. That's more than possible, but I think it is also more than likely that they used the fir'Bolg tactic. Return to homeland and have fun without fighting. As little excitement as peace offers, I'm sure most civilizations prefer peace over war.
