Once in any Tain shard, a person can enter the part of the Tain of their chosing, where Dec chose the one where the Summoner was (they're all connected). Equally, one can exit the Tain in the vicinity of where any one shard may be. For instance, Dec entered the Tain shard in Forrest Heart. He exited through the shard that was in Soulblighter's camp (the one which Soulblighter first found, the one where he put the Summoner to work). It's like a system of world knots, or something.
