"Rather like knowing his true name, only better." is a quote from "Silvermines," this showing how the true name thing is most certainly a part of Myth, and most likely has as much implication as its roots, in the Black Company, as well as the thousands of other tales, lengends, and magicks which take this into account. Seeing as we don't know the Watcher's true name, and he isn't constantly barraged by it to make him weak, we can assume that Bahl'al is simply his common name, at best.
