Not necessarily. I can't think of any instance in the Mythworld where someone was paralyzed, killed, or otherwise harmed by the use of their true name. The closest parallel was when the Watcher was shot by the arrows with tips made by his bones, and that most likely 'stoned' him because there was enough power in his own bones to harm him. After all, he was the second or third most powerful sorceror in history.
