: Ok, we're having a lot of discussion about The Head
: lately, again. But I feel like taking another
: direction. What about the Summoner?
: I, personally, think we're not supposed to know who The
: Head or The Summoner are, they are intentional plot
: holes. But I suspect Bungie left enough clues in there
: for us to piece together plausible theories. Much like
: the Jjaro in Marathon - we don't know who they are,
: where they came from, or what they want, we only know
: some of the things they did.
: The problem is, every Summoner theory I can think of I
: can easily shoot down. So here's my suggestion. Pick a
: theory about the Summoner, any theory with the tiniest
: bit of backing. Ignore all evidence to the contrary of
: it, and advocate that theory. Search for more
: evidence. Try to shoot down the other theories, and
: find defenses when people try to shoot down yours.
: This way, we'll be finding more evidence for more
: theories about the Summoner, and whatever theory is
: left standing, changes are it's close to correct. I'll
: be shooting down whatever I can, and posting any other
: tidbits I come across.
: Lets get it on!
There certainly isn't a lot of direct evidence dealing with the Summoner, but there wasn't much for the head or the Watcher either, so I'm thinking we can dig up a lot of dirt on this guy.
First thing: He was inside the Tain for FIVE MONTHS resurrecting the myrks!!! Remember, when Soulblighter captured the legion in the Tain it took them two days to escape, while that time was only a few seconds. Let's see, if one second realtime equals 1 day Taintime, then 5 months of realtime would be... [ducky whips out nifty TI calculator]... about 3.5 years Taintime. That's one hell of a lot of Myrks. At the rate the summoner was raising them in the level named after him, he could have resurrected a few hundred myrks a day. That times 3.5 years... Assuming he raises 500 myrks per Tainday, (which seems kinda modest. he could do much more than that), that's about 638,750 myrks. Ooooh, what happened to all those myrks?
If soulblighter had used them all at once, then the forces of light would be nonexistant right now. If you play through myth II on legendary, and you kill every myrk you possibly could, that's possibly just over a thousand of the bastards. Assume that another few ten thousand are killed by the various armies of light (and that's a hell of a lot, remember, those myrks are powerful), that still leaves over half a million myrks that could have been used to kick the stuffing out of Alric's troops.
So was soulblighter sending some of his own little fallen lords through the rest of the world over the sea to the west, or to the untamed lands, or past the gjol, or what? Or did he just save them for netgames? :)
That's quite a mystery...
