Thoughts on HBO, Infinite, and the future of Halo

Wow, it has been a long time since I've been here and it is... exactly the way I remember it. Like revisiting a childhood home only to find it completely unchanged. Very unexpected and, I think, rather unique in a world filled with constant change. Kind of refreshing, actually.

Looking through my old posts, though, and man... I used to be a real cringy asshole. I guess that means I've grown, right? God, I hope so. On the off-chance that someone I hurt in the past is reading this: sorry.

Does anyone here remember a couple of LAN parties at Wu's place in Connecticut from a looooong time ago? Those were some of my fondest Halo memories. I still have the hoodie that members of Bungie gave out to attendees at (I think) the second one I attended.

Anyway, I didn't want to just make a random post about me without sharing anything Halo related so I thought I'd talk a little bit about my most recent Halo experience, Halo: Infinite.

I liked the "return to form" with the refocusing on Master Chief and "Cortana".

I feel like I wished there was more to do. I wish the world was bigger. I wish we could have traveled to other parts of the ring. I wish there were more objectives to complete and more collectibles to get. As it is, I unlocked all the guns and vehicles and completed all the map objectives (except skulls), and completed the main story in under 25 hours. Compare that to God of War (2018), which I've gotten all the achievements for and still sometimes play just for funsies, with over 140 hours!

I really feel like they could have fleshed out the world more with either a bigger map, or more maps to go to outside of the main story.

So that's the abridged version of my thoughts on Halo: Infinite (not that anyone asked or cares!)

You know what I'd like to see from future Halo games? Move on from the Master Chief and Cortana. I really liked being able to play as a female Spartan in Reach. And I really enjoyed seeing the Sangheili culture and some of the more human (i.e. not Spartan) elements in Halo 5.

The books are a wealth of untapped potential; I would love a mainline game set in some of the other stories from around the universe. Maybe a game where you can choose to play as a named male or female Spartan and it just switches around the characters, like in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.

I never touched the multiplayer of Infinite as I'm not really into PvP these days (it brings out the worst in me), so I don't really have much to say on that front.

Anyway, sorry for the too-long, unsolicited, and shitty opinion article. I mostly just wanted to say hi!
