: I feel like partially because this is a "spiritual reboot" where
: they want to keep things simple for newbies, and partially because after
: getting burned pivoting the story repeatedly, they're being cagey, they
: didn't just confirm this, but at this point it definitely seems like the
: simplest answer is that the Endless are or are related to the Precursors?
: But admittedly that bumps up against other media (the recent novel Point
: of Light) that suggests a different arc for the Precursor's return.

There are a lot of interesting threads being woven at the moment, for sure. It is very wise for them to be lightly weaving in lore. It might be frustrating for some of the more devout and engaged lore fans having the lore potentially be spread so lightly over each following installment; at the same time, 343i has gotten a lot of flak for leaning heavily on lore in such a way that makes the story incomprehensible to non-lore fans. This is the only way you're going to be able to lean on the lore and still have your story be comprehensible. It is a return to the Bungie way of only threading through what you have to, but I think 343i has the opportunity to do that in a way that still involves the EU, unlike Bungie, who generally disregarded it.
