Yes, I took his response to your comment to the extreme.

To which he cited a study linking the two.
For what purpose? What point was being made?
Either salt is universally good, or it's universally bad?
Or, it entirely depends on how it's used?
I was simply expressing the point that while it may be linked to hypertension, that clearly doesn't mean that salt is "bad".
That's all.
If that's not what he was trying to imply, then I'm sorry for inferring the wrong meaning of his comment.
