I'd say it's pretty much all coincidental, especially since from what we know Eric Trautmann and Nylund came up with a lot of Halsey's characterizations, and Jones had little to nothing to do with it. It doesn't help that she states factual inaccuracies about the character (combat engineer? lovesick?)
