I mean, air vehicles have always had a problem of being too powerful (or perhaps a more accurate phrasing is "massive power increase in the hands of a skilled player.) Ever since Halo Reach Banshees have been royal pains in the ass, and in WZ you at least have the opportunity to fight back if you're high enough level REQ solo, otherwise you have to have a communicative team to teamshot them to death.

Given the number of places air vehicles can escape to that ground vehicles can't track, I don't see this being a major issue. The most open WZ map is the Sanghelios one, and even then you can lose altitude to avoid flak as opposed to dodging around cliffs like on the other maps.
