: But if you want to weaponize ss drives then the ripper part just might be
: significantly less expensive than a full frigate. If you can make one that
: can be fired from a MAC...
: Apparently 50% get through point defenses. Which is odd - does it not matter
: how many Archers are fired at once? Is it always 50% get through? :-)
: I assume that if you fire about thirty then ~1/2 get through. Add an SS
: missile to that lot and you have a 50% chance of destroying the target.
: This still seems promising...
One issue, WHAT are slipspace drives made of? Perhaps they're super labor intensive to produce so weaponizing them is crazy. For example, we actually use two different fissionable materials for nuclear power and nuclear weapons, Uranium and Plutonium, with Plutonium being a much more labor intensive element to produce than the non-weaponized Uranium. Therefore, we can assume that the slipspace drive bomb was like making a dirty bomb while making actually weaponized slipspace would be the equivalent of a full ICBM. The difference in production costs would be astronomical considering how much a normal slipspace drive costs, I believe the quote was the most expensive piece of tech ever created by man, so lets assume your average slipspace missle would cost the same as a fleet. Yeah now it doesn't sound so crazy for them to never weaponize slipspace.
