: I made a comixology account a few weeks ago to dig into some of the new Star
: Wars comics. I forgot about Halo comics until this post. Where should I
: start?
Overall, I wouldn't say Halo comics are all that great, or important. The best stuff are bits like the HGN and Tales from Slipspace when they can tell tales that are on the fringes of what we'd ever see in the games. At their worst, they tend to be inessential or irrelevant to the larger plot (Halo: Uprising told us nothing interesting about Chief between H2 and H3, and took months to tell it; Escalation ended without actually tying in to Halo 5 at all, which was a bit of a let-down), have poor art (the early bits of Escalation again) or just aren't interesting stories even beyond their relevance to the wider canon (Halo: Bloodlines and its un-Spartan II Spartan II's of Black Team spring to mind.)
Probably the best series is Helljumper, as it informs a relationship we don't see much of in ODST as well as a bit more about what it's like to be a grunt in the UNSC; it's also competently written and drawn.
