Halo Reach Is Not Canon... Except in-universe where it's a made-up story.

Sounds plausible to me. Who's to say the entire Campaign of Reach is nothing more than a War Games reenactment of a fictionalized account of events? Considering the main protagonist can be customized and is just like your MP model, that explanation could easily make sense. Each Spartan running this particular "Reach program" puts himself in the boots of this "Noble Six" character.
