In the Super Mario series of games, you could play as Mario and upon your death, a 2nd player was able to start a level as Luigi and play until their death. That multiplayer feature was completely removed for Super Mario 64 and horribly implemented with the little 'girlfriend mode' star thing in Super Mario Galaxy.

You are absolutely correct. I didn't buy the game because of the change in developer, but people seemed hesitant on purchasing that entry in the Arkham series on the basis of included multiplayer alone. It was just another feather in the cap of what I felt the point of this particular thread was...

I believe it is a fairly popular game, and while it's not an sci-fi, militaristic FPS Xbox-exclusive console shooter, it's not really different worlds at all. It's a video game which I feel was the point of this particular part of this thread...

Yeah, that one was a bit of a reach, but it's not quite apples and Empire State Buildings. It's more like apples and oranges, but we can kick it out cause I probably just wanted another excuse to express my disappointment with Destiny and the new Bungie.

I agree with both you and Grizzlei here. I put a lot of hours (probably days) into the Firefight mode in Reach, but it was a beloved feature that was removed, yet the next installment in the game series was successful as Grizz said. Another point toward the post which I was responding to...

I would love to hear of another franchise that removed major features like Forge and did well. Please let me know.

These are all examples of games that cut major features like Forge (whether universally liked or not) and still did quite well. That is really all I was responding to. I actually agree with you that there is at least the perception of getting less for the same price when features are cut, whether or not that is the reality of the situation, I do believe is up for debate though.
