Re: Halo 3: ODST

In Response To: Halo 3: ODST (cheapLEY)

: I finally ponied up the five bucks and bought ODST for the MCC.

: I just have to say, this game really holds up. It's still a great game. While
: all of the past Halo campaigns are still fun to run through, ODST is a
: particular delight, and I feel like it doesn't show it's age nearly as
: much as Halo 1-3 do. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but I think in
: large part it has to do with movement speed. It feels faster in ODST than
: it does in the rest of them. I played Halo 3 earlier today while ODST was
: downloading, and the difference is huge. Halo 3 (and the rest) feel pretty
: slow and clunky, whereas ODST feels a lot more in line with more modern
: shooters, even with it's lack of sprint. It just feels faster in all
: aspects, gunplay included.

: So really, I'm just posting to say, holy crap, I knew there was a reason ODST
: was my favorite. It's still an incredibly fun experience.

Funny you mention this game. Just finished replaying this game yesterday.

One of my favorite things to do in this game is playing the game on legendary, to simulate how would you fare as somebody with the same survivability as a normal human, against an onslaught closely resembling that of the books, where even a single grunt can kill you if you're not careful. ODST is a lot of fun.

It's not that hard (at least I didn't die anywhere as often as you'd expect), and really, this game is about being smart. That and Buck's quote when you start the game on legendary and the rookie's "girlfriend". Makes both characters very human towards the dangers they face.
