But in regards to that "However..." in my post title, Forge still has a lot of potential to grow. I think it can benefit from the addition of features that already exist on other map editors (e.g., the Far Cry series, Project Spark), including:
• A proper terrain editor. Raise mountains, carve valleys & rivers, dig caves. Give us a big 500m×500m blank square as a Forge canvas.
• A texture tool. Paint that blank texture-less map to look like grassland, arctic, desert sands, etc.
• A vegetation generation tool. Cover the ground with grass, and groups of trees and bushes.
• A proper time of day/sun angle tool.
• More advanced weather tools. Not just wind & fog but also snow, rain, etc.
• Actual Covenant architecture pieces in addition to standard human & Forerunner pieces.
Add these things in Halo 6 and, when combined to all the various other improvements made over the years and the generally superior user-friendliness of Forge, and you'll have the ultimate map editor.
