No? No one said anything about terrain deformation being in (unless you meant something else by "malleable").
I wonder though, they said it samples the textures of the terrain, maybe they meant the textures wrap onto it? That seems unlikely, but that would make it look like you're adding a piece of ground and moving it around. I suspect it just looked odd in the short clip though.
