In Response To: Re-read TFoR for First Time in Awhile... (zofinda)

I had also recently read through TFoR as a result of my hype levels soaring for the reveal of Blue Team at E3 - which didn't quite pan out as I had hoped, but pushing that aside...

I did find myself surprised by some of the writing and the approach to storytelling. It is still a great story and it expanded on the fiction in a very profound way when all we had was Halo:CE, but it made me appreciate the newer fiction a little more.

One thing that I paid close attention to was the internal struggle Halsey had when she went ahead with the kidnapping. This has been a big topic as of late, and was driven home really well in the first season of Hunt the Truth. She clearly did have issues moving forward with the plan, but her final assessment was that if she stepped down somebody else would fill the role and execute the same kidnapping, which is likely to be true. Now I understand somebody is going to take the hit for what was done, and no way will ONI let that be anybody other than Halsey, but it isn't like she thought this was a great idea from jump street.

As terrible as it was it did save humanity from a threat, albeit from a threat which was unknown at the time of the decision. I find myself more torn on this topic than ever before, but I believe that it has lead to some good discussions as of late.

Can't wait to see more of Blue Team - I tried reading some of the comics, but just barely got through the first anthology which includes issues 1 through 6. I just couldn't justify the cost of continuing the story, or even the nominal investment in time that would go along with the series - do they get better? I've been avoiding the spoiler filled threads.
