Halo Preservation Project Beta 1
By:FyreWulff
Date: 6/14/15 8:58 am

Download:

http://www.fyrewulff.com/fdc/halopreserve/HaloPreservationProject_BETA1.zip

Instructions are included in the zip file (HOW TO USE.txt) .

What is this?
A way to preserve the latest official updated map and gametypes for Halo 3, Reach, and Halo 4 on the Xbox 360 without needing Live or online connectivity into the far future.

What games will it support?
Halo 3 (Maps), Halo: Reach (Maps, Gametypes), Halo 4 (Maps, Gametypes) in a single download

What is the beta for?
To make sure this works correctly on everyone's 360.

What do I need for this beta?
Any copy or version of Halo 3 (Mythic disc is best), a USB thumb drive formatted to FAT32, and the latest Xbox 360 dashboard, and the ability to extract zip files (standard on any modern OS)

If you do not have the Mythic disc and do not own the DLC, you will not be able to view or use the DLC map variants.

What Halo 3 maps are in this beta?

The latest matchmaking versions of:

Assembly
Boundless
Citadel
Cold Storage
Construct
Epilogue
Foundry
Ghost Town
Guardian
Heretic
Last Resort
Narrows
Sandbox
Standoff
The Pit
Valhalla

Is any of this modded content?

None of this is modded content, and has been accomplished entirely on a 'clean' Xbox 360 with the official software installed. It should be 100% safe to use. You're just using a generic offline profile to load up the attached map variants and this is easily done due to functionality added a month or so ago in a dashboard update.

Will the Halo Preservation Project ever showcase modded content?

No. The project's goal is only gametypes and map variants made with official tools or game software. Modded content is outside the scope of this project.

What's the site?

An actual site is being built out for this, I'll post it when it's ready!

What about community maps?

There will be a way to make map packs and community maps will be made available as authors allow it as a different download to the main matchmaking maps downloads. That comes a bit later, though.

Feedback is wanted and welcome. The final release will contain actual in-depth tutorials on using this, for the record.
