The United Nations championed decolonization in the aftermath of the Second World War. With the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council being who they are, it doesn't strike me as odd one bit that the UEG's structure, policies, and ideology would be so aligned with their own with international integration. Too bad they didn't install a space monarchy just for fun.
