I've never shared much of your opinions on 343i (I like Halo 4, after all :p), but I gotta say, I have lost a lot of faith in them with this release. I can understand a few hiccups with a release, but not such huge messups like this.

I plan to play the beta, I enjoy where they are taking the story and even the gameplay now, but if you have to release a content update more than a week after launch that makes a huge portion of the game actually playable? Pretty embarrassing.

Also, when is this Nightfall bug gonna get fixed? I had some friends over to watch it the other night.. low and behold it says "Buy Halo" where it should say "Play." Clicking it just takes you right back to the MCC. Halo Channel also likes to continue playing it's title music while your trying to watch a terminal. You have to close the app, open it and find the terminal again to actually hear it.
