Got to hold him yesterday. It was basically just twenty minutes of concentrating on not dropping him. All the time, my mom and his other grandmother were going through family photos trying to see where he got that nose. On the other side of the room, my dad and his paternal great-uncle were comparing horror stories about working in food processing plants.

I think we decided on a nickname. My brother-in-law is a farmer with the last name "Sieverkropp", so the new guy is called "Newcrop". Or "Newkropp". My suggestion for "Neuerkropp" was shot down, on the grounds that nobody else knows how to pronounce that.

What I really like about little Newcrop is that, due to complications that were probably his fault, he was born two weeks early on my day off. I got to see him without burning vacation time.
