In Response To: Re: My God it's... (GrimBrother One)

: I've actually sent along these points to the web team to take a look at them.
: No joke.

*Even bigger smile*

: While we certainly will never please everyone, almost any feedback is good
: one way or another.

If they're open to more pointers, I've got some.

Reduced Functionality: The forums used to have these wonderful features.

-On the forum page, the badges next to a thread title used to change color if someone had posted in them since your last visit. This makes for a quick and intuitive way to catch up, which is why every other forum I've been on works that way*.

-A button next to the thread title that takes you to the first new post since your last visit. The current system only takes you to the very last post, a feature only useful to those that visit the forums every five minutes.

-A way to see who clicked the 'like' button on a post. It just means more when certain people click that button, especially if it's someone you rarely agree with.

-A way to search for posts written by a certain user. There's actually a lot of fairly intelligent folks hanging around Waypoint, and I like to read what they thought about, say, Moral Dictata or Odd One Out.

*HBO, being unique and purposefully difficult to weed out the scrubs, is exempted from this.

New Functions: The Waypoint forums never had these but desperately need them.

-There should be something to indicate whether you had previously posted in the thread. Some forums, like the Paizo messageboards, simply place a conspicuous dot after the thread title. Others modify the thread icon.

-We have Bold and Italicize tags for our posts, but we lack Underline and Strikethrough tags. A forum without strikethrough tags is a forum missing out on truckloads of cheap potshots memorable witticisms.

Stylistic Choices: the Apple look never was that hot to begin with.

-Back to the thread badges. Could stand to be a little darker. I think the intent was to have them fade into the background when you aren't looking, but I was having trouble seeing them in daylight.

-343i seems to love weapon skins. How about forum skins? I'll take mine in Forerunner slate gray and minimal blue Tron lines.

Quick Fixes: Mashing the bugs that wormed their way through the beta.

-When I go to write a reply, I'm presented with this staggeringly large text box. It's great, like a sandbox for the writer. The only problem is, you have to click on the first line or the text box won't realize that you want to write sweet love letters to the English language within its borders. I actually measured, and about 1/24th of the area responds to your click.

For reference: the Gold occupies exactly 1/25th of the target.

Yes, user interfaces are one of my pet peeves. How did you guess?
