The before effect for the energy sword was much more.. energizing. Sounded like holding energy in your hand.
The after definitely gives the sword much of an electrified glass-y type feel, like swing something that should shatter, but won't because space magic. :P

I agree on the nostalgia point... I like the old version, probably mainly just from nostalgia, but I can understand why the new version. A lot of these sounds are going to have grow on me, methinks...
