They're going to go in and destroy the deposits. Which won't actually destroy an element, so they're obviously hoping to bury the mining site under a landslide or something. Except it's on a section of a broken Halo, so it ain't going to be buried forever.

But in the video description, the 'element' is billed as part of a biological attack.

Lovely. And here I was hoping that Nightfall's science would be marginally better than the average Star Trek episode, but that was just too much to ask for.

*sigh*
I guess, if it is an element, you could destroy most of the stockpile with some sort of neutron bomb. And how it's exclusively lethal to humans? I don't know. I'm mostly disappointed that they teased the TV series with such a blatant plot device.
